Aurigny Airlines: Mavis Brown – Creative Social
When Aurigny Air Services invited us to help tell Mavis Brown’s story, from the very beginning it was never treated as another piece of content.
For us it felt more like a privilege, a chance to meet an amazing person and share her story with the people of Guernsey who we knew had family members that went through similar experiences.
They need space, patience and the right people willing to listen properly. Mavis’s story was about more than one woman’s memories of Guernsey.
It was about home, childhood, evacuation, loss, freedom and the strange way a place can stay with you for a lifetime, even when life carries you somewhere else.

The Brief
Capture Mavis’s story ahead of Guernsey’s Liberation Day in a way that felt honest, respectful and deeply human.
Mavis had left Guernsey as a child evacuee during the war, carrying her memories of the island with her for the rest of her life.
The challenge was not production, polish or making something look expensive. The challenge was care.
No forced emotion. No over-produced brand film. No turning someone’s life into marketing noise. Just a real story, told properly.
The Creative Idea
We approached the film as a documentary-style piece built around Mavis herself.
Not a campaign script with a person attached to it, but a story led by her own voice, her own memories and her own connection to Guernsey.
The campaign brought together Aurigny Air Services, IWM, Manchester Airport Group, Aether Terminal, Visit Guernsey and a wider group of partners to help share a story that deserved to be heard across the island.
The aim was simple: let the story breathe, let people understand what Liberation means.
Let people hear the story through someone who has lived the other side of it, and let Mavis remind us that home is not always where you live.
Sometimes it is where part of you never left.
Results
The film became one of the most powerful stories we have ever captured.
– Over 500,000 views in one week
– Huge organic engagement across social media
– Widespread awareness of Mavis’s story across Guernsey
– A deeply emotional piece of content shared around the island
– A collaborative campaign involving Aurigny Air Services, IWM, Manchester Airport Group, Aether Terminal, Visit Guernsey and many others
– A Liberation Day story told through a personal, human lens
This wasn’t content designed to fill a feed. It was content designed to make people stop, listen and feel something. And they did.
Conclusion
This campaign reminded us that the most powerful marketing often doesn’t feel like marketing at all. It feels like truth.
Mavis’s story didn’t need a gimmick, a stunt or a clever twist. It needed time, care and the right people around it. For Aurigny Air Services, this became more than a Liberation Day film.
It became a way of honouring a woman, a generation and an island story that deserved to be heard.
Possibly the most amazing story we have ever captured, and one we will never forget.
