Revolución de Cuba Eurovision – Guerrilla Marketing Stunt
Hussel recently took on a thrilling challenge for Revolución de Cuba: creating an impactful guerrilla advertising campaign during one of the UK’s busiest events, Eurovision.
The Challenge
With Eurovision approaching, Revolución de Cuba sought to capture attention and direct footfall to their location. Our team faced a significant hurdle: all conventional marketing and advertising spaces were already taken (they’d booked up almost a year earlier).
This campaign shows not only our ability to think outside the box and deliver creative solutions under tight constraints, but how we’re willing to skate that grey area and go that extra mile ( even if it means being a little cheeky).
The Creative Solution
Undeterred by the lack of traditional advertising avenues, we decided to innovate. Our bold idea? Utilise reverse graffiti, creating our own advertising space right in the path of Eurovision’s 100,000+ visitors.
Execution
We strategically used spray advertising in over 150 locations along the route between the Eurovision village, Albert Dock and the M&S arena. This approach, while slightly unconventional, allowed us to prominently showcase the Revolución de Cuba brand to a massive audience wherever they went throughout the festivities.
Results
– Successful, unique guerrilla advertising campaign in a high-traffic area.
– Beat logistical challenges to create visible and engaging branding for Revs.
– Achieved significant brand exposure during a major event with creative use of clean-graffiti.
– Successfully avoided security throughout the entirety of laying the ads (they say beg forgiveness > asking permission don’t they?)
Conclusion
Sure, straying a bit into the marketing grey area can often challenge your nerves on occasion and we did have to cheekily sidestep security a few times before the sun came up.
But, we like to think we managed to pull it off!
